Luke Wynen shows off his new colors…Stihl chainsaws. I saw Luke in Starbucks sat night hanging out with Kelly Clark, Tommy Czeschin and others. Luke said he was stoked to be sponsored but Stihl, they have and indy spirit like snowboarding and more corporate money means more money for snowboarders

Gretchen Blieler was there but only managed 7th place. We all still love her anyway

Cecile Alzina came from France and was looking pretty strong

Holly Crawford, from Australia was also looking like a contender. Holly managed to find 5th place

Feels like we’ve been here before. Elena Hight got second last year and repeated that performance this year

Of course we can not skip Kelly Clark, she won the whole show. With Hannah gone and Gretchen getting 7th it was obvious Kelly would win. She did not even have bust out a big run, she kind of cruised. Yea, huge airs like this are cruising

Some guy behind me was explaining to a girl he was with that Elena Hight was really hot because she looks good and rides so well. Guess you can not argue with that logic huh? Oh, for Elena’s secret admirer, she is nice too

Danny Davis took the world by storm last season. The above stats tell it all. Growing up in Michigan, seems like all the new rippers come from the Midwest lately. Must be the shitty hills that motivate them to go out and rip every day; never get bored or complacent. You have to rip to stay interested when your hill only has 200’ vertical. Danny is part of the new crowd of rippers. He was born when I was a sophomore in college which means I am old enough to be his dad – scary. The kid rips let’s see what he is up to.

Elena Hight got 2nd in the womens division. Imagine being pulled at 40-50 mph behind a snowmobile, at night, at a huge pile of ice. This comp was gnarly

Danny Davis Crushes 1st Grand Prix of the 06-07 season

∙ The pipe was good and I asked a bunch of heads; Louie Vito, Mason, Danny Davis, Rob Kingwell and others. If they say it was good, I believe them

∙ Breck has a pretty good base so if you live in California or the east coast, get your ass to Colorado

∙ Danny Kass, Shaun White, Travis Rice, Antti Autti, Hannah Teter and others were missing. I guess those guys don’t need $14,000. It is ok, the new crowd is taking over; Louie, Danny, Brad Martin and so on

∙ The Italian Stallion, Giacomo Kratter was there and made the finals but broke his tibia (shin) good luck to him and getting that healed

∙ Danny Davis was large and in charge. Transworld and Snowboarder’s rookie of the year lived up to his rep

∙ Brad Martin and Crispin Lipscomb are sponsored by McDonalds, what the hell is that?

“Thanks to JJ Thomas for clogging my toilet last night, that was fun” – Todd Richards

“Pipe is good, I hope I do well because I need to buy Christmas presents” – Mason Aguirre

“Scotty Lago has the only backside 900 worth judging” – Todd Richards
