Rune Glifberg scores his first gold medal at X Games super park! It’s true Rune was one of the biggest whiners about the whole set up but I am sure he was not whining about he 1st place check. In all honesty he complains but he has the most passion for the sport and he has earned the right to be a critic. That’s how things get better though. The X Games tries a new set up, guys like Rune say what’s wrong and hopefully things get better next year.

The super park was an attempt to bring bowl skating to the X Games it was met with mixed reviews. People thought it was too tight but then again it seemed like people were enjoying themselves in the finals. The deep bowl was tight as hell, 11 feet deep with no flat. If you would stretched the whole set up about 40 feet on both sides it would have been a lot better. Maybe the sickest thing about was the mix of skater; you had some vert, some street some tranny skaters, all mixed together. The pseudo jam session was fun to watch even if it had its flaws. Hopefully they bring it back next year. Where was Beni Galloway?

Just in case you were thinking about building a wooden capsule in your backyard, here is how you do it. Just wait till your parents go to Disneyworld for the work (really they are at a couples swingers convention banging the neighbors) conference for a week and build it. Your Dad will stoked, just like Phil Margera

An overview of the bowl overlooking Chad Barites shoulder. The park to me looked like a Dreamland skatepark mixed with a mini ramp. It looked kind of fun, actually. I heard a lot of people were complaining about it being too small and true it was small and had some dead end lines but shit, we used to drive like 2 hours to skate a ditch. Maybe the X Games will improve on it next year, maybe they will scrap skateboarding, maybe you will die in a car crash – f-it. By the way, Chad Bartie was ripping and he has not made an X Games appearance since 03

Andy Mac in what George Clooney would say in the movie Oh Brother where Art Though “a tight spot” – the 11 ft deep bowl with no flat, kinda like 1977

1992 called, it wants its run back. Omar is a fucking shredder and a lot of dudes thought he should have got third. Omar takes the sickest 2 minute runs, too bad the format in superpark was 30 seconds and Omar needed to pack his sickest tricks into 30 seconds, not like a minute

Tony Alva checking out the action. Tony was explaining the difference between Spanish, Portuguese and French and surfing in Brazil to someone. You think he knows from travelling there or reading magazines? Also when Andy Mac was scored low on a run and the crowd was booing TA was yelling back “he has no style” TA was impressed with Andy’s techinically hard moves though

Kyle Berard Brah

One of the camera people asked me who was Daniel Cardone. I said look for the short Italian looking dude

Mike Peterson was ripping “My legs only hurt when jumping off the big stuff”

Rune Glifberg backside ollie in the super deep 11 foot bowl, that little bowl reminded of the Turf – I hated that thing, ha, ha

Rune again, showing how you end up in first, hauling ass and getting the kill lines and maneuvers – with mad style

Andy Mac I believe was at a slight disadvantage due to his pads and style. He probably had to rip a little harder to get second. If Andy skated padless and had a tad more style he would have won because he got some of the hardest tricks down and probably the highest trick count

Bruno Passos in the qualifiers, he always charges

Not sure I ever expected to see Jimmy the Greek in the X Games

Rune doing the capsule in practice. In the contest he was damn near upside down and the crowd loved it, the judges scored him high too for it

Where Rune, Omar and Andy Mac practiced for a week, TNT just showed up and ripped. He was drinking Jim Beam in the finals too. His totally spontaneous and wild style is fun too watch

Alex Chalmers ollie transfers

TNT was flipping off the cameras in the qualifiers – big tail drop

Rune does a tailgrab in kind of a tricky spot

Aaron Indys the hip in the qualifiers. I guess we should a hip because there were lots of hips, this particular hip was by far the most utilized

Chad Barties does a shuv it to tail over the spine. Bartie seriously could have medaled had he been a little more consistent because he was ripping pretty hard

Daniel Cardone proving that skateboarding and surfing are related

“I am not too good skating when I can’t go whenever I want” Tony Trujillo actually seemed stoked to win the bronze which is not what you expect from him. In the press conference he was sitting in the wrong spot and was like “what, I don’t know what to do” He never won an X metal again. It was kind of cool to see his spontaneous wild style be rewarded with a medal next to Andy’s style which is like the opposite

“I just grew up with pads and I fall to my knees” Andy is one of the best all around dudes out there, still with or without pads. Andy’s silver medal in the superpark event means he breaks his four year tie with Tony Hawk for number of medals won

Rune Glifberg had a hurt shoulder but pulled it all together in the finals, he won and pretty much deserved it. Hid first X Games gold

1 Rune Glifberg
2 Andy Mac
3 TNT
